Short stories written by Paul Zachariah at different times with Jesus as the central theme has come out as a separate collection in Malayalam. The book is called 'Jesus Stories' by the translator K.V. Jayashree found the Tamil form. This little book brings you closer to Christ without any of the illusions that religion has created.
Zakaria's fluid language, natural imagery, and sharp composition make for a good reading experience. The copy can be read over and over again, for such poignant similes as 'the inside of a church full of pitchforks was like a field full of rays', and for laugh-out-loud lines such as 'whatever he sees out of the tip of his nose is life to him'.
Translation by Jayasree gives the feeling of reading in the original language. Along with Zachariah, Jayamohan is another person who mostly creates stories about Jesus in Tamil. His Jesus stories should also be compiled in this way.
